Pine Belt represented in Miss Mississippi 2018
Vicksburg, MS (WDAM) -Forty-nine contestants are vying for the coveted title of Miss Mississippi 2018 and nine of the young women are representing the Pine Belt. Preliminaries for the pageant kicked off June 20 and will end on June 23. This year’s theme is “Simply the Best,” which is what contestants are trying to prove in order to win the crown. The City of Vicksburg welcomed participants on Sunday, June 17 with Mayor George Flaggs speaking to the group. The pageant consists of interviews and an evening gown portion. Despite the Miss American Corporation announcing they are doing away with the swimsuit competition, contestants with Miss Mississippi pageant will compete in the category this week.
